DDAC Terriers & Friends have won one of the country’s most prestigious agility competitions after battling it out in the Kennel Club Team Agility Competition for medium dogs at the world’s greatest dog show, Crufts.
The team which comprises; Angela Sallis and dog Ollie from Hickling, Leicestershire; Leanne Alder and dog Freddie from Hucknall, Nottinghamshire; Graham Burgess and dog Deme from Rushden, Northamptonshire and Ann Holt and dog Moss from Kegworth, Derbyshire won the competition on Friday 8th March.
Large, medium and small dog teams from Kennel Club registered clubs which had previously qualified at heats in 2012 took part in the Kennel Club Team Agility Competition. DDAC Terriers & Friends made it through a semi-final in the morning before competing against the top teams in the final.
Team captain, Angela Sallis said: “My dog Ollie has been competing at Crufts for ten consecutive years. He first won the Mini Eukanuba Agility Challenge in 2006 and to win today was extra special.”
Leanne Alder commented: “We’ve been competing as a team for a year and this was our first time at Crufts. The experience was amazing and it was a very relaxed atmosphere.”
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: “We would like to congratulate DDAC Terriers & Friends on their achievements as the standards this year were very high. The dogs and handlers performed exceptionally during the competition. They have all demonstrated just what can be achieved with training and good team work.”
