Theo earns chance to be Top Dog in dfs Crufts 2011 Best in Show Final

Ch Vicmars Rave On aka Theo, a Standard Poodle from Surrey qualified for the prestigious dfs Crufts Best in Show final, which was held tonight at the world’s greatest dog show, after winning the Utility group earlier this evening.

Over 21,000 dogs have competed over the four days of the show, taking place at the NEC, Birmingham, for one of just seven places in the final. This year is the 120th anniversary of dfs Crufts, and the winner Jet, a Flatcoated Retriever will join a long line of champions that have taken the Best in Show title in that time.

Theo’s owner Sharon Pine-Haynes said: “I am overwhelmed, it’s unbelievable. I have never won the group at Crufts before and I’m really excited.”

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Communications Director, said: “Winning a group at dfs Crufts is a fabulous achievement and I hope both Sharon and Theo will take a deserved rest tonight after such an exciting day.”

The crowning of the Best in Show winner and reserve was preceded by the presentation of the Kennel Club’s Friends for Life award, which recognises the country’s dog heroes. The award went to Joanne Day from Staffordshire and her Golden Retriever/Poodle cross, Kaiser, a Canine Partners assistance dog.
