Make a resolution to be part of history at dfs Crufts 2011

The New Year is traditionally a time for making resolutions, so why not make yours to be part of history in the making by entering the 120th anniversary edition of the world’s greatest dog show, dfs Crufts?

With the closing date for entries just a short time away, owners of dogs eligible to compete at the show are being urged to come and be part of this great occasion. The show takes place at the NEC, Birmingham from 10th - 13th March 2011, and will once again celebrate happy, healthy pedigree dogs under a banner of ‘Breeding for the Future’.

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: “With pedigree dogs and the role of dog showing still very much under scrutiny, it remains as important as ever that dog lovers come together to show the wider world the great work being done by pedigree dog owners and breeders across the UK and beyond.

“The Kennel Club and the world of dogs as a whole have made great strides over the past year to tackle the issues which need addressing and this work will continue throughout 2011. This work is being done in conjunction with breed clubs and pedigree dog owners wherever possible to ensure that we send a message of unity and positivity out far and wide.

“This year, dfs Crufts will see its popular health zone redesigned as an area dedicated to ‘Breeding for the Future’, with sections highlighting the work being done to promote the health of pedigree dogs as well as giving advice on breeding and buying.

“The main objective is to encourage potential, new and experienced breeders to visit the stand and to find out more about how they can make a positive difference to the improvement of all dogs and how the KC will drive and support this process.”

The deadline to take part at dfs Crufts 2011 is fast approaching – the closing date for entries is Friday 7th January for postmarked entries and Friday 14th January for online entries.

The only exceptions to these dates are for entrants who qualify their dogs at three breed championship shows which will take place in mid-January following postponements in December due to bad weather. Qualifiers from the American Cocker Spaniel Club of Great Britain and Midland Cairn Terrier Club must enter on Monday 17th January 2011, whilst qualifiers from the Yorkshire and Eastern Counties Pekingese Club must enter on Monday 24th January.

The process which must be followed between 8.30am and 4.30pm on the respective dates for these late entries is as follows:

1.    Email Fosse Data systems via with details of entry as per normal entry form
2.    Fosse will email back confirming receipt of entry
3.    Exhibitor will then telephone Fosse with payment details

No entries will be accepted after 4.30pm on either date, and no other additional qualifiers will be permitted.
