Launch of new Inter-Regional Obedience competition for Crufts 2014

After a review undertaken by a small working party, visitors to Crufts in 2014 will see an all new Inter-Regional Obedience Competition. Taking elements from across all existing obedience classes, a number of changes will be made to offer a greater variety of exercises.

As in previous years teams from 7 areas will represent the whole of the UK.  Each team will consist of seven dogs plus a reserve.  Breed restrictions will apply to maintain the competition’s ability to display the variety of both purebred and crossbreed dogs that compete at obedience shows throughout the year.

Other changes for 2014 will include guidelines for the role of team manager and the team selection process to improve transparency and consistency across all teams.

Speaking on the latest changes for Crufts 2014, Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: “We hope that by implementing these new guidelines, we will offer an increased selection of exercises and improve the competition as a whole. The changes will be put in place for Crufts 2014 and we are looking forward to seeing these take effect.”

An updated list of all changes can be found in the attached document at the bottom of this page.
