Kennel Club Introduces Online Application For ATC Numbers

The Kennel Club has made it easier for overseas exhibitors wishing to compete at the 125th anniversary of the world’s greatest dog show to apply for their Authority to Compete (ATC) number, by launching an online application form on the Kennel Club website.

In order to show or compete with a dog in any discipline in the UK, including at Crufts, the dog must be registered with the Kennel Club or the dog’s owner must have obtained an ATC number from the Kennel Club. The ATC number is valid for the life of the dog. The new online form means that Kennel Club customers now have two options to apply for an ATC number, as they may still apply by post if they are unable to do so online.

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: “By offering the means to apply for an ATC number online, we are streamlining the process and making things quicker and more convenient for exhibitors.

“Those who are unable to apply online for whatever reason can still apply by post, but we are hoping that the new service will prove popular and far more suitable for exhibitors, who are leading increasingly busy lives.”

Applications to obtain an ATC number for competing at Crufts should be submitted by 23rd December 2015, as for applications received after this date it is not possible to guarantee that the ATC number will be received in time to make their entry.

The Kennel Club will no longer be able to accept ATC applications received via email or fax, to ensure it complies with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) requirements, which ensures that companies which process, store or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment.
