Beating thousands of other dogs, Jilly (Ch Soletrader Peek A Boo), a Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen from Wallingford, Oxfordshire has qualified for the final of Crufts after winning Best in Group for Hounds today (Thursday March 7th) .

Jilly, 4, who was bred by Kennel Club Assured Breeders Gavin and Sara Robertson came second at Crufts in 2011, will now be returning for a second shot at the title, at the world’s greatest dog show, Crufts at the NEC in Birmingham. More than 20,000 dogs are competing over the four days of the show for the chance to win the most celebrated title in the world of dogs.

Handler, Gavin and Jilly will be returning to the NEC Arena on the evening of Sunday March 10th for the highly anticipated Crufts 2013 final. Only seven dogs make it all the way through to the final, which will be watched by thousands in the arena and millions more worldwide as it will be televised live on Channel 4 and streamed on the official Crufts YouTube Channel - www.youtube.com/crufts.

Proud Gavin who as a member of the Kennel Club Assured Breeder Scheme, follows the high standards set by the scheme to ensure that all of his dogs have the best chance of a happy and healthy life, said: “We always decided this would be Jilly’s retirement show, so really wanted this to be her best. I can’t express how happy I feel, she never lets me down, she’s my once in a lifetime dog. I am sad Sunday will be our last show, but she has really given me everything. It is like our cup final.”

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Communications Director, said: “We were delighted to see Jilly return and be chosen as the Group winner today, she is such a lovely dog that clearly loves being in the show ring and has a great relationship with her handler.

“Reaching the Best in Show final at Crufts is a fabulous achievement for any dog, and to do it twice is very rare, we wish Jilly the very best for the final. I’m sure that all of Oxfordshire will be tuning in to Channel 4 and rooting for them to win on Sunday evening.”
