dfs Crufts Qualifiers come to Guildford

Dog lovers are invited to come along to enjoy the experience of seeing nearly 8,300 dogs entered in the Richmond Dog Show Society Championship Dog Show at Loseley Park, near Guildford.

Over 160 different breeds of pedigree dog will compete from 10th – 12th September for the ultimate ‘Best in Show’ prize and for a chance to take part in the world’s largest dog show, dfs Crufts.

The show is one of 37 General Championship Dog Shows licensed by the Kennel Club throughout the year which enable dogs to qualify for dfs Crufts.

Each day will host different breeds of pedigree dog, which are divided into seven groups. On Friday 10th September, visitors can see the Hound and Toy groups being judged, followed by the Working, Pastoral and Terrier breeds on Saturday 11th September, before the Gundog and Utility breeds round off the show on Sunday 12th September. The seven group winners will then compete for the prestigious Best in Show award at the climax of the show on Sunday. Richmond Dog Show Society Secretary, Dr Ron James commented “This is a great day out for all as we have so much going on. As well as the championship show itself, there will also be lots of trade stands where visitors can find a variety of new products and useful information.”

Admission and car parking is free so there is no reason to miss out, but visitors are requested to leave their own dogs at home as non-competing dogs are not permitted into the event. Dogs must not be left in cars at the show.
