dfs Crufts Qualifiers come to Darlington

Dog lovers are invited to come along to enjoy the experience the 42nd annual ‘bow-wow’ at the Darlington Dog Show Society’s Championship Dog Show at the beautiful, stately Newby Hall in North Yorkshire.

Thousands of dogs, across roughly 200 different pedigree breeds, will compete from 17th – 19th September for the ultimate ‘Best in Show’ prize and for a chance to take part in the world’s largest dog show, dfs Crufts.

The show is one of 37 General Championship Dog Shows licensed by the Kennel Club throughout the year which enable dogs to qualify for dfs Crufts.

Each day will host different breeds of pedigree dog, which are divided into seven groups. On Friday 17th September, visitors can see the Hound, Terrier and Utility groups being judged, followed by the Working and Pastoral breeds on Saturday 18th September, before the Gundog and Toy breeds round off the show on Sunday 19th September. The seven group winners will then compete for the prestigious Best in Show award at the climax of the show on Sunday. To find out which group your favourite breed is in, please visit www.thekennelclub.org.uk/breedhealth.

The British & Irish Native Vulnerable Breeds Society will be hosting a special marquee to showcase indigenous breeds which are under threat due to low numbers of puppies registered each year, and there will be a dedicated paradeeach day prior the group judging when the commentator will give a history and development relating to each breed.

Darlington Dog Show Chairman, Sarah Allsopp commented “This is a great day out for all as we have so much going on. As well as the championship show itself, there will also be lots of trade stands where visitors can find a variety of new products for their canine companions as well as themselves, and there will be plenty of food stalls around to keep the family going all day long.”

Non-competing dogs are welcome to come along with their families for a charge of £12 per dog, and strictly no dogs are to be left in cars. For further show information contact Sarah Allsopp on 0191 4162606.
