Coventry's own dog makes it through to Crufts final

Beating thousands of dogs, Elizabeth (Ch Zentarr Elizabeth), a Lhasa Apso from Coventry, Warwickshire has qualified for the final of Crufts after winning Best in Group in the Utility group today (Thursday March 8th).

Elizabeth, aged 7, will now compete for the prestigious title of Best in Show on Sunday against just six other dogs at the world’s greatest dog show, Crufts at the NEC in Birmingham. Over 21,000 dogs are competing over the four days of the show, for the chance to win the most celebrated title in the world of dogs.

Owner, Margaret Anderson and Elizabeth will be returning to the NEC Arena on the evening of Sunday March 11th for the highly anticipated Crufts 2012 final. Only seven dogs make it all the way through to the final, which will be watched by thousands in the arena and millions more worldwide as it will be televised live on More4 and streamed on the official Crufts YouTube Channel -

Proud owner Margaret said: “I'm so excited to be in the Crufts final, we will really enjoy ourselves - we will have to wait and see how we get on.“

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Communications Director, said: “We were delighted to see Elizabeth chosen as the Best in Group winner today, she is such a lovely dog that clearly loves being in the show ring and has a great relationship with her handler. Reaching the Best in Show final at Crufts is a fabulous achievement for any dog, and we wish Elizabeth the very best for the final. I’m sure that all of Coventry will be tuning in to More4 and rooting for them to win on Sunday evening.”
