Detox, a Border Collie and owner Greg Derrett from Wickhamford near Evesham have won one of the country’s most prestigious dog agility competitions after battling it out in the Kennel Club large singles agility final at Crufts, the world’s greatest dog show.
Greg and Detox won in the large dog category after competing against 14 other dogs and handlers at Crufts in both jumping and agility.
Greg is no stranger to winning as he also won both the Large Agility Stakes and Novice Agility Stakes finals at the Kennel Club Olympia Agility Stakes at Olympia in December last year. Greg competed with two of his Border Collies; Detox in the Large Stakes final and Rehab in the Novice Stakes final.
Proud owner Greg said: “To win the two main individual Kennel Club agility finals in just ten weeks has been phenomenal and to win the Crufts singles by 1.6 seconds was brilliant. To say I’m extremely proud of Detox is an understatement.”
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: “The agility finals at Crufts are probably one of the most keenly fought for and most prestigious agility finals in the UK. Just to qualify for a Crufts final is a wonderful achievement.
“We would like to congratulate Detox and Greg. He is such a lovely dog that clearly loves competing and has a great relationship with his handler.”
Crufts took place from 7 - 10 March 2013 at the NEC, Birmingham. For more information visit www.crufts.org.uk
