Beating thousands of other dogs, Breeze (Ch Meadowpark Whispers Breeze), a Bernese Mountain Dog from Rochdale, Lancashire reached the final of Crufts after winning Best in Group for the Working group today (Sunday March 10th).
Breeze (2), who is owned by Kennel Club Assured Breeders, Bernice Mair and Carole Hartley Mair and handled by Gary Dybeall, went on to compete for the prestigious title of Best in Show on tonight. He and six other dogs made it through to the final of the world’s greatest dog show Crufts, at the NEC in Birmingham.
More than 20,000 dogs competed over the four days of the show for the chance to win the most celebrated title in the world of dogs which was won by Jilly (Ch Soletrader Peak A Boo) a Basset Griffon Vendeen (Petit).
Gary Dybeall, who handled Breeze in the ring tonight said: “It feels amazing to have qualified and taken part in the Crufts Best in Show final, I never even thought we would be shortlisted, I am so happy. We are so proud of her.”
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Communications Director, said: “We were delighted to see Breeze chosen as the Best in Group winner today, she is such a lovely dog that clearly loves being in the show ring and has a great relationship with her handler.
“Reaching the Best in Show final at Crufts is a fabulous achievement for any dog, she did so well.”
Proud owners and breeders, Bernice Mair and Carole Hartley Mair, also won the Agria Breeders Competition at Crufts on Saturday (March 9th). As a member of the Kennel Club Assured Breeder Scheme, they follow the high standards set by the scheme to ensure that all of their dogs have the best chance of a happy and healthy life.
The final was watched by thousands in the arena and millions more worldwide as it was televised live on Channel 4 and streamed on the official Crufts YouTube Channel - www.youtube.com/crufts.
