Demon, an Australian Kelpie and owner Helen Anderson from Wroxham, Norfolk won the Kennel Club Medium ABC (Anything But Collies) Agility after battling it out against nine other finalists at Crufts, the world’s greatest dog show.
Sponsored by Joint Aid for Dogs, the official sponsor of the Kennel Club Olympia Agility Stakes, the competition took place at Crufts for the very first time this year. Helen and Demon won after competing in both jumping and agility. They had the fewest combined faults in the fastest combined time, calculated over the two rounds of the final.
The final saw medium dogs in agility grades 1-5, other than Border Collies and Working Sheepdogs, competing to win. All of the finalists competing had qualified at the semi-finals at Discover Dogs at Earls Court, London in November 2012.
Helen and Demon also came second in the Championship Agility final for medium dogs on Sunday March 10th.
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: “The Medium ABC agility took place at Crufts for the first time and the atmosphere was electric in the ring.
“We would like to congratulate Demon and Helen. He is such a lovely dog that clearly loves competing and has a great relationship with his handler.”
Crufts took place from 7 - 10 March 2013 at the NEC, Birmingham. For more information visit www.crufts.org.uk.
