Do you have what it takes to be Dog Photographer of the Year?

by The Kennel Club Press Office

Crufts 2008 saw the official launch of the fourth annual Dog Photographer of the Year competition.  The competition is not limited to professional photographers and is open to any dog enthusiast who has a camera and a genuine love of dogs.

The competition has four main categories for entries:

  • Dogs at Work
  • Dogs at Play
  • Dog Portrait
  • Man’s Best Friend

A special category entitled ‘I love dogs because...’ has also been created for children under the age of 16.
The lucky winners will have their photographs displayed at London’s leading dog event, Discover Dogs from 8th-9th November at Earls Court. The overall winning image will also be reproduced on the front cover of the December edition of the Kennel Club's flagship publication, the Kennel Gazette, and the winner from each category will be presented with a framed print of their photograph.

The winner of the Under 16’s category, along with their parent(s) or guardian will win a day out with professional dog photographer Marc Henrie, in addition to the framed print.

Entry to the competition is now open and costs just £3.50, which covers up to four photos per person. Entry for the Under 16 category is free of charge. Only one photo may be entered in each category and the same photo cannot be entered in more than one category.  The competition closing date is 31st August 2008 and any profit will go directly to the Kennel Club Charitable Trust (Registered Charity Number 327802).
