crufts.org.uk - the online crowd pleaser

by The Kennel Club Press Office

This year Crufts has again proved its claim to be the world’s greatest dog show attracting 160,000 visitors, which is 7,000 more people than in 2007. Despite the record number of people at Crufts, the Kennel Club also successfully tapped into a different type of audience; those who did not attend the event but keep themselves up to date via technology.

In late 2007 the Kennel Club launched its revamped Crufts website, www.crufts.org.uk. The newly improved website has fulfilled its aim to become more interactive and enjoyable and has made Crufts more accessible to online visitors.

The Kennel Club photographers took over 8,000 photographs and several hundred of these images were uploaded to the website via Flickr (www.flickr.com). These images have already been viewed more than 25,000 times but even more astonishingly, the 19 Crufts 2008 videos featured on the website have been watched over 90,000 times!

Visitors to the website were able to follow insiders’ accounts of Crufts by reading the 27 blog entries written by three Kennel Club bloggers, and also had the chance to listen to 49 audio interviews from Crufts FM which were available to download.

It just goes to prove that the Crufts experience can truly be enjoyed without stepping through the doors of the NEC Birmingham!
