Sixtieth Best in Show winner presented with Keddall Memorial Trophy
The esteemed Keddall Memorial Trophy will be presented to the proud winner of the Best in Show for Crufts 2008 for the sixtieth time tonight, Sunday 9 March.
The Keddall Memorial Trophy, which stands at 34” high and weights just under 19lbs, is made by Martin Hill & Co. and is a memorial to Robert Keddall, Show Manager at the Charles Crufts show in 1894 -1924.
It has been awarded as a Best of Breed trophy since 1925 – which alternated between different breeds every year – but became the Best in Show Trophy in 1938. The first dog to be awarded the trophy for this accolade was Cocker Spaniel, Exquisite Model of Ware.
The Daytona Cup was offered as a Best in Show trophy a few times in the 1950s.
