We're here!

Although this is my 29th Crufts, it’s my first as a Kennel Club employee, and I cannot believe that there was so little that I knew about what goes on behind the scenes!

I’m sitting in the Press office surrounded by Journalists from all over the world, and I am amazed at the coverage that the show gets. We are expecting 5,000 overseas visitors so we must also be doing our bit for the UK economy!

Being a “specialist” judge I usually only get to see the breeds in the Terrier Group so it’s a great opportunity for me to go and see some of the judging of breeds that I don’t normally see.

Looking at the catalogue it is clear is that Ellis Hume will have his work cut out judging the Pugs. Not only has he got 264 Dogs to judge this includes 30 Champions, from all over the world! I’m not sure if this is a record but it certainly unusual for any judge to get the opportunity to go over so many good dogs. It’s lucky that Ellis is one of our more senior judges he will need to call upon his experience if he is to sort that lot out!
