Palma with the SOFA girlsSometimes people think that when you are young you can’t do anything very responsible. In the Press Pack we know that’s not true – look at Mirk and Scout and me – we’re not very old and we have a VERY responsible job sniffing out all the important news from Crufts.

Palma with a SOFA girl and Marc AbrahamAnd today I met some more young people who are making a real difference for dogs. They are all members of Speak Out For Animals – or SOFA for short – which is an animal action club run by their teacher, Miss Cole. They had come to Crufts to be on the Dog Theft Action stand and get some support for their petition, which urges the government to make it obligatory for all dogs to be microchipped. I asked them why they decided to start their campaign and they told me they were sad to hear of the dogs that ended up lost because nobody knew where their humans were. If they had a microchip their humans could have been found and they could get back together again. I think these SOFA girls must be really very kind people to care so much about us dogs. And I asked them about their teacher. They said Miss Cole was pretty nice too!
