Maisie, a Cocker Spaniel/Border Collie cross, and her owner, Kate Davies from Worthing, West Sussex won the Kennel Club Novice Cup for medium dogs at the world’s greatest dog show, Crufts on Thursday 6th March.
Kate and Maisie qualified for Crufts at the International Agility Festival in August 2013, when Kate was just 16 years old. The pair won in the final after competing in both jumping and agility. They had the fewest combined faults in the fastest combined time, calculated over the two rounds of the final. The Novice Cup is the Kennel Club’s premier competition for the potential agility stars of the future, and is open to dogs in Grades 3, 4 and 5 of the sport.
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary said: “The Novice Cup is a special event and just to qualify for a Crufts final is a wonderful achievement. “We would like to congratulate Maisie and Kate. She is such a lovely dog that clearly loves competing and has a great relationship with her handler.”
