Chloe, a Cocker Spaniel and Lara Staplehurst from Epsom, Surrey won the Kennel Club Novice Cup at the world’s greatest dog show, Crufts on Thursday 6th March.
Lara and Chloe won in the small category after competing in both jumping and agility. They had the fewest combined faults in the fastest combined time, calculated over the two rounds of the final.
The top eight large, four medium and four small dogs from the Novice Cup competition (Grades 3, 4 or 5) held at the KC International Agility Festival last August took part in the finals on Thursday at Crufts.
Proud owner, Lara said: “Chloe is the first dog I have competed in agility with and has taken a lot of hard work to train. She loves it though and we are so pleased to have won.”
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary said: “The Novice Cup is a special event and just to qualify for a Crufts final is a wonderful achievement.
“We would like to congratulate Chloe and Lara. She is such a lovely dog that clearly loves competing and has a great relationship with her handler.”
Crufts takes place from 6 - 9 March 2014 at the NEC, Birmingham. For more information visit www.crufts.org.uk.
