The owner of the 2012 Crufts Best in Show winning dog, a Lhasa Apso called Elizabeth, won the grand final of the Kennel Club Breeders’ Competition at Crufts this weekend. Margaret Anderson from Coventry won the ultimate breeder’s title with her team of Zentarr Lhasa Apsos in front of a packed Arena at the NEC in Birmingham. The Zentarr Lhasa Apsos beat 45 other breeders in the final to win the competition.
Judge Dr Paolo Dondina selected Margaret’s Zentarr Lhasa Apsos for the prize as the breeder with the best overall quality evident in their dogs, with the Snowlief Ibizan Hounds bred by Mrs E Egan, a Kennel Club Assured Breeder, taking the reserve prize.
Throughout the year, breeders have competed at Championship dog shows around the UK for a chance to compete in the final, and, after months of hard work, the top scoring teams competed in what was an impressive, nail biting contest, where only one could be crowned ‘Best Breeder’. Sponsored by Agria Pet Insurance, and supported by Our Dogs newspaper, the Breeders’ Competition provides breeders with a fantastic opportunity to be recognised for their breeding credentials and pedigree heritage.
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary said: “Congratulations to Margaret on this fantastic achievement. As a previous Best in Show winner, her dogs are a real testament to the time and effort she has taken in developing sound breeding practices to produce wonderful dogs.”
