Dog lovers are invited to come along to enjoy the experience of seeing over 7,200 dogs and their owners as they take part in the Bournemouth Canine Association Championship Dog Show this weekend at New Park in Brockenhurst.
Over 150 breeds of pedigree dog will compete for the ultimate 'Best in Show' prize and for a chance to compete at the world’s greatest dog show, Crufts.
Bournemouthis one of 37 Group and General Championship Dog Shows licensed by the Kennel Club throughout the year which enable dogs to qualify for next year’s Crufts.
Each day will host different breeds of pedigree dog, which are divided into seven groups. On Saturday 13th August, visitors can see the Hound and Toy groups being judged, followed by the Terrier, Working and Pastoral groups on Sunday 14th August and the Utility and Gundog groups on Monday 15th August. The seven group winners will then compete for the prestigious Best in Show award at the climax of the show on Monday. The show is set to be a thoroughly enjoyable and interesting event for all the family. Show secretary, Denise Courtney, has said of the show “It will be a fantastic day out for the whole family as the show is set in the fantastic surroundings of the New Forest. Visitors will be able to see the wonderful collection of dog breeds and there will also be lots of different and unusual trade stands for visitors to peruse whilst they enjoy the show.”
Entry to the show is free and visitors are asked to leave their dogs at home, as non-competing dogs are not permitted in to the show. The organisers also stress that dogs are under no circumstance to be left in cars.
