The dedicated radio station for the world’s largest dog show, Crufts FM, will once again be broadcasting during the show to make sure everyone can take part in this great celebration of happy and healthy dogs.
Crufts FM will be broadcast live on 106.8fm from Wednesday 4th March, until 10pm on Sunday 8th March within a 5km radius of the NEC, Birmingham. This means that those driving to the NEC will be able to listen to the latest news from the event. Those who are a bit further away from the action will be able to listen to Crufts FM via the web on the Crufts website, www.crufts.org.uk.
Crufts FM, which was launched at Crufts in 2005, broadcasts from a purpose built studio in the Pavilion at the NEC and provides comprehensive information on all aspects of the show, including the latest show news & results, and traffic and travel news. It also features interesting interviews with experts from the canine world on a wide range of dog related subjects, such as dog health which will be at the heart of the show in 2009.
Listeners will also be able to contact Crufts FM to have their say on various aspects of the show, with listeners invited to email their comments through to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The daily format will include the ‘Breakfast Show’, which looks ahead to the day’s events, mixing news, previews and music with traffic and travel news. The mornings tend to be dominated by the station’s reporters bringing live interviews from the various halls with celebrity interviews, features and reports on all the events and displays from the rings.
The afternoon gets even busier as the team endeavour to track down as many of the winners as possible. The reporters will be hand for reaction from successful owners, and the results will be broadcast on the Crufts FM news desk which is aired every 20 minutes. Programmes continue until 10pm with studio guests, reviews of the day and coverage from the Main Ring announcing the various winners who will go through to Best in Show.
Bob Mills, Crufts FM’s Executive Producer, said: “Crufts FM is almost all-talk radio about the show. It’s a packed programme all day and is a great way to keep up to date with all the news and results. For those who can’t make it to the show, Crufts FM means that no-one has to miss out!”
